    Why wasn't this made known prior? And how are they getting away with this? I've hired cars from Hertz before and there were no hidden fees with $0 excess.

    I rang their reservation phone number to book a vehicle for our employee, told the lady that I will be using the Company credit card for the payment and that the employee would not have the credit card with him. She said that they will be emailing me a Credit Card Authorisation form that once signed I should email back to them. After around 2 hours I received an email from them but it was a "Complete Your Booking" online form not a credit card authorisation form. So I waited for a bit as I thought they would be sending another email but the 2nd email I received was just a reminder to do the "Complete Your Booking" online form.

    Upon arrival to collect my vehicle, I was advised by the staff member it would cost me an extra $35 to drop my excess from $4,500 to $550. And if I wanted excess dropped for $110, that I would need to pay over $100 extra.

    My wife arrived at Europcar Adelaide Airport to collect a hire car that was booked 4 days earlier and was told that an extra $480.00 would be charged for 16 days insurance premiums. This was not revealed when the initial phone booking was made and, when challenge as to the additional charge she was told that they, Europcar, would rather tell the customer face to face as to this charge. If this is the way this company does business, impending customers should be very aware of these hidden charges. As a result my wife walked away and hired a car from a competitor at a far reduced cost.

    Customer service staff were incompetent! If they don't know their own procedures & policies, they shouldn't be answering customer service calls or take bookings! If you want hassle & stress free car rental, you're better off with another rental car company. I'll never book with Europcar again!

    Also, the car I had paid for had issues with the entertainment system. Really fun when you're going for a 5 hr drive with no music. Pretty sure when you're leasing a car to someone, you should probably check that the system works. I forgot my reading glasses in the glovebox, so far - the lady I've spoken to on the phone was so incredibly rude and another gent in the store was absolutely clueless as to how to offer any assistance. A proper lost & found system might also help this business.

    So I proceeded to fill up the online form thinking perhaps at the end there would be something that would note that it was a company paid hire & clicked on submit. A message appeared that the booking has been completed but when I scrolled down there was a message that the driver should be presenting the credit card. So I rang customer service & said that the booking will be paid with the Company credit card & driver would not have the card with him. She said that's okay as long as you've put in your card details should be fine. So I hang up but after a few minutes I still wasn't confident that the booking was confirmed. So I rang again, hoping another agent would answer my call, & might know better. But it was the same lady who answered & I said I'm just really confirming if the booking is all good and again she said yes as you have typed in the company card details online.

    I just spoke to a very helpful employee there, I always use Europcar in Europe and South Africa, great cars and great people !!

    Booked an intermediate car (Toyota Corolla) but was given a compact (Toyota Yaris) with no apology. Staff were quite rude. Was only able to get a refund for the price difference between the two car categories due to the persistence of my booking agent. Would not use again and would not recommend

    The next day when the employee arrived at their pick up location, the staff asked for the credit card & of course he didnt have it so they didn't give him the car. Our employee had to grab a taxi & no rental car for the duration of his stay there. Such an inconvenience!
